This Earth Day, Sebastian will moderate a panel on climate change for on-line network Bitesize TV. The panel will examine environmental news and how to make LA a model of sustainability by 2050. Panelist include LA’s new Chief Sustainability officer Matt Petersen, environmental artist and advocate John Quigley, environmentalist and CNN International journalist Philippe Cousteau and IPCC scientist Dr. Andrew Weaver. Sebastian Speaks At The Iris Night Lecture Series
As part of the National Geographic lecture series, Sebastian was invited to speak at the prestigious Annenberg Space for Photography on February 20, 2014. From Pole to Pole: The Longest Journey recounts being attacked by polar bears; reaching both poles on foot; photographing in sub-zero temperatures; and what the loss of ice means in the context of a warming planet. The lecture sold out but was filmed and can be streamed here.
MoreThis winter, the magazine Coco Eco published a feature called “Leaders from the Heart” honoring “a few good men for their dedication to causes greater than the self”. Sebastian was featured as one of the magazine’s Men Of The Year 2013, next to Paul Watson, Bobby Kennedy and Danny Glover.

As of November, Sebastian’s North Pole adventure film, Into The Cold–A Journey of the Soul, can be seen on demand on Netflix. The film chronicles Sebastian and partner Keith Heger’s centennial reach of the North Pole to commemorate Admiral Peary and team’s 1909 mission. The film premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival and went on to win multiple awards internationally. The Hollywood Reporter called it one of the five Must-See-Films of the festival. It has been released internationally since.
